TV’s The Shed spotlights Gulf Coast way of life

The Shed spotlights Gulf Coast on TV.  Ask any Mississippi Gulf Coast resident, and the person will probably tell you one of the reasons he or she loves the area is because of the food. The Coast has its famous catfish, tempting crawfish, juicy steaks and, of course, the best breakfasts around since we tend to be generous with the grits.

There is another style of food preparation we Gulf Coasters feel should be just as famous – our barbecue. That’s why many of us visit The Shed Barbecue and Blues Joint, either in Ocean Springs or in Gulfport. And now, the whole country will be able to see why The Shed is one of the best places to eat when you are here on the Coast. That’s because the Food Network has a new show called – naturally – “The Shed,” which premieres Monday, Aug. 5, at 9 p.m.

The Orrison family owns The Shed. Linda Orrison told the (Biloxi) Sun Herald that “people who don’t really know The Shed, people from like (New) Jersey, are going to look at us and say, ‘Are you really for real?'” Orrison’s positive even those people from New Jersey will see just how real her clan is, but mainly, she notes, the fact is this: “One really wonderful thing about this production is we’re getting a wonderful opportunity to show off the Mississippi Gulf Coast,” she said.

So, the next time you are here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, head on over to The Shed. While you are chomping on some of those mouth-watering ribs, smile big and don’t worry about the barbecue juice trailing down your chin. They don’t care what’s stuck in your teeth, either – just smile! You might end up on Food Network!
