Mississippi Gulf Coast residents and visitors alike will have more shopping options within a few short years when the new million-square-foot Gulf Coast Galleria opens in D’Iberville, Miss. With more than 750,000 square feet of retail space, the mall will incorporate restaurants, a five-story hotel, and water features on its grounds.
Public relations pieces by CBL & Associates Properties, Inc., note that “Gulf Coast Galleria … will … serve as the largest, most modern shopping destination between Mobile, Alabama and New Orleans … . Strategically located at the major interstates of I-10 and I-110, … the mall sits on the gateway to Biloxi’s casinos and picturesque beach resorts that attract nearly 15 million visitors each year and adjacent to the much anticipated Ocean Expo, a 150,000-square-foot aquarium opening in 2014.”
City officials told the Sun Herald that the complex will cost between $250 million and $300 million. The D’Iberville City Council is scheduled to vote Aug. 20 on the Galleria plans and the grand opening is set for 2015.
