Gulfport MS Real Estate

Gulfport MS is the second largest city in Mississippi. Historically much if this development is due to the vast amount of yellow pine and live oak timber on the coast. During the daytime, downtown Gulfport is the business center for the area, and at nighttime, it’s a favorite gathering spot.

Jones Park

The revitalized downtown is adjacent to the Harbor, Jones park and deep water shipping port. The Jones park area is the cornerstone of Gulfport both historically and physically. Joesph E. Jones purchased the land and forged a railroad from Jackson to harvest the timber. He literally put Gulfport on the map. His heirs later gave the land to the city with the expectation that it continue to be for recreational use. Gulfport has not only lived up to that promise, it has made major improvements to the land. You can see the architectural plans for the park and how beautiful it is now.

Gulfport MS Barksdale Pavilion

Gulfport has several amazing pavilions, the largest is the 23,000 ft Barksdale pavilion. Right next to it, with a bunch of yachts as a backdrop is a very nice amphitheater called the Leo Seal Educational Plaza.
