2013 Mississippi Gulf Coast home sales are up when compared to 2012

The comparison of 2012 statistics to those of the first quarter of 2013 for single home sales here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast shows that the numbers are looking up for Mississippi sellers.

The single family average sales prices is up 3.38 percent, with a total average selling price up 5.8 percent. In 2013, more than 51 percent of all listings were on the market in excess of 120 days, up from 2012 (46 percent of the listings being on the market in excess of 120 days). Though the average listing sold at 94 percent of asking price, the average days on market is up 198 days, versus 151 in 2012.

The number of units of single family lots is up 18 percent and the average price of units sold is up 31 percent. Multifamily home sales saw an increase of 7.7 percent, while the average price was 36.34 percent. Total number of residential homes, condos and town homes sold up 6.29%.

In 2013, the total number of cash transaction is still very high, with 41.3 percent of the sales. This number is slightly higher than last year.
