MS Gulf Coast Local Flavor – El Aguila Mexican Restaurant

MS Gulf Coast Local Flavor – El Aguila Mexican Restaurant.  Who thinks that eating Mexican food means ordering from a HUGE menu where nothing is referenced by name but instead by a number?  For instance your order might be a number 44 but hold the refried beans and substitute with extra fried rice.  You have to order the number 44 every time you come because who has time to read 200+ choices of menu items to find out if there is anything else you may want? But we all know the real reason we eat in places like this.  It can be summed up in four words:  Free Chips and Salsa.  Am I right?  I usually eat so many chips that my meal usually ends up packaged up to take home with me.  But another reason we go here is because despite having 200+ menu items, they all can be whipped up in no time.  This is one of the few sit down restaurants that is safe to go during your lunch hour.

While the speed and the bottomless basket of tortilla chips are great motivators of eating at a Mexican restaurant, have you ever wished that the food was just a bit more….well, memorable?  If so, let me tell you about a place with fantastic food that is found right here in Gulfport, Mississippi.  El Aguila is the name of the restaurant and is located at 187 Teagarden Rd.  They may not have hundreds of numbered dishes to choose from, but the 25 items on their menu are all cooked to perfection.  And if you are a tortilla chip junkie like me, there is nothing better to compliment the warm chips like their Tableside Guacamole.  The waitress comes to your table with all the ingredients and mixes it up right there for you.  It is absolutely delicious.  Secretly I would eat just the chips and guacamole for my whole meal but am too ashamed to actually do it.  But thankfully because of this I have had the pleasure of trying some of the other food off of their menu.  And I have savored each and every bite.  And nothing goes better with your meal than one of their tasty margaritas.  They have several different flavors but my favorite is the pineapple margarita.  They have both indoor and outdoor seating available.  So the next time you are craving Mexican, you need to try out this restaurant.
